RAF Airfield Map Jam - Round 2

We’re launching a 2nd round of our RAF Map Jam, and once again we’re inviting you to put the Ground of Aces map editor to work.

This time, you can choose your own location. Recreate a real RAF airfield located in the United Kingdom and design it as a map suitable for Ground of Aces players. It can be beginner-friendly, made for more advanced players, or somewhere in between.

The map must be based on a real RAF airfield in the United Kingdom that was operational during World War II.

Airfields with a connection to the Battle of Britain are especially encouraged, as this period is closest to the current setting of Ground of Aces.

Historical accuracy is welcome, but don’t forget about gameplay. Think about how players will build up the base and what will make your map interesting to play.

Where can you submit your map file?

Submit your map file on our Discord in the #map-jam-round-2 channel.

When is the deadline?

September 6, 2026 at 23:59 CEST

How will the winner map be selected?

Our team will first review all submissions to make sure they meet the contest requirements. Eligible maps will then be added to the Community Maps tab inside the game in the week of the 7th of September, giving players the chance to check them out before voting for their favorite (link will be posted when it starts.) The community will vote to determine the top three maps.

If we receive too many eligible submissions for a single community vote, the entries may be divided into multiple voting rounds.

Maps that were previously shared with the community, like our Discord, are welcome to enter the contest.

If you submitted a map to our previous RAF Map Jam, you can enter a reworked version of it, as long as you have made meaningful changes for this new contest round.

The 1st, 2nd and 3rd place maps from the previous RAF Map Jam are not eligible for resubmission.

Terms and Conditions

Ground of Aces – Map Jam Contest Terms & Conditions

Last updated: August 2026

1. Organizer

This contest is organized by Blindflug Studios AG (“Organizer”), the developer of Ground of Aces.

2. Contest Overview

Participants are invited to recreate a real RAF airfield located in the United Kingdom using the Ground of Aces map editor and submit their map via the official Ground of Aces Discord.

The chosen airfield must have been operational during World War II. Airfields with a connection to the Battle of Britain are especially encouraged, as this period is closest to the current setting of Ground of Aces.

Maps should be designed with gameplay in mind and may be suitable for beginners, advanced players, or somewhere in between.

3. Eligibility

3.1.

The contest is open to individuals worldwide, unless prohibited by applicable local laws.

3.2.

Participants must:

  • Be at least 18 years old or have permission from a parent or legal guardian;
  • Have a valid Discord account to submit their entry;
  • Be the original creator of the submitted map; and
  • Meet all submission requirements described in these Terms & Conditions.

3.3.

Employees of Blindflug Studios AG are not eligible to participate.

4. Submission Requirements

4.1.

Submitted maps must:

  • Be based on a real RAF airfield located in the United Kingdom that was operational during World War II;
  • Be created using the Ground of Aces map editor;
  • Be the participant’s own original work;
  • Not infringe upon the intellectual property or other rights of any third party; and
  • Be playable and suitable for inclusion in the Ground of Aces Community Maps selection.

Historical accuracy is encouraged, particularly for airfields connected to the Battle of Britain, but participants may adapt the real-world airfield and surrounding area to create an enjoyable gameplay experience.

4.2. Previously Created Maps

Maps do not need to be newly created specifically for this contest.

Participants may submit an eligible map that they previously created and shared with the Ground of Aces community, including maps previously shared on the official Discord.

Maps submitted to the previous RAF Airfield Map Jam may only be submitted again if they have been meaningfully reworked or improved for Round 2. Minor or purely cosmetic changes are not sufficient.

The maps that placed 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the previous RAF Airfield Map Jam are not eligible for resubmission in Round 2.

The Organizer reserves the right to determine whether a previous Map Jam entry has been sufficiently reworked to qualify as a new submission.

In all cases, the participant must be the original creator of the submitted map and the map must meet all other requirements of this contest.

4.3. Submission

Submissions must be posted in the official Ground of Aces Discord channel:

#map-jam-round-2

Participants are responsible for ensuring that their submission is complete and accessible to the Organizer.

4.4. Submission Deadline

The deadline for submissions is:

September 6, 2026 at 23:59 CEST

4.5.

Late, incomplete, inaccessible, or otherwise ineligible submissions may not be considered.

5. Eligibility Review and Community Voting

5.1. Eligibility Review

Following the submission deadline, the Organizer will review submitted maps to determine whether they meet the eligibility and submission requirements described in these Terms & Conditions.

This review is intended to determine eligibility and is not intended to rank eligible submissions.

The Organizer may exclude submissions that do not meet the contest requirements or that cannot reasonably be evaluated or played.

5.2. Community Maps

Eligible submissions may be added to the Ground of Aces Community Maps selection so that members of the community have an opportunity to play and evaluate the maps.

5.3. Community Vote

The winner of the contest will be determined through a community vote among the eligible entries.

Details regarding the voting period and voting process will be communicated through the official Ground of Aces channels.

5.4. Multiple Voting Rounds

If the number of eligible submissions is too large for a single community vote, the Organizer may divide the entries into multiple qualifying voting rounds.

The format and schedule of any qualifying rounds will be communicated before voting begins.

5.5. Voting Integrity

Attempts to manipulate the voting process, including through fraudulent accounts, automated voting, coordinated vote manipulation, or other unfair methods, may result in votes being invalidated or an entry being disqualified.

5.6. Ties

In the event of a tie that affects the determination of the winner, the Organizer may conduct an additional community vote between the tied entries.

5.7.

Decisions by the Organizer regarding eligibility, voting integrity, and the application of these Terms & Conditions are final.

6. Prize

6.1. Contest Winner

The winner of the community vote will receive:

  • USD 300 cash prize; and
  • The opportunity for their map to be reviewed by the Ground of Aces development team for possible inclusion as an official map.

6.2. Official Map Review

Winning the contest does not guarantee that the submitted map will become an official Ground of Aces map.

The winning map will be reviewed separately by the Ground of Aces development team. The Organizer will determine whether the map is suitable for inclusion in the official map selection.

Gameplay, technical requirements, compatibility with the game, overall quality, and other development considerations may be taken into account during this review.

6.3. Selection as an Official Map

If the winning map is selected for inclusion as an official Ground of Aces map, its creator will receive:

  • An additional USD 300 cash prize; and
  • Credit for the map in the game credits.

The development team may make changes or adjustments to the map before or after its inclusion in the game.

6.4.

The Organizer reserves the right to substitute a prize with one of equivalent value if circumstances make this necessary.

7. Payment

7.1.

All cash prizes will be paid exclusively via PayPal. No alternative payment methods will be offered.

7.2.

Winners are responsible for providing a valid PayPal account and accurate information necessary to receive their prize.

7.3.

If a winner is unable or unwilling to receive the prize via PayPal, the Organizer is under no obligation to provide the cash prize through an alternative payment method.

7.4.

Any fees, taxes, duties, currency conversion costs, or other charges associated with receiving a prize are the responsibility of the winner.

8. Intellectual Property

8.1.

Participants retain ownership of their original work.

8.2.

By submitting a map to the contest, participants grant Blindflug Studios AG a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to use, reproduce, modify, display, publish, promote, and distribute the submitted map for purposes related to Ground of Aces, the contest, and related promotional activities.

This includes the right to:

  • Make the map available to players through the game;
  • Feature the map in community content, social media, websites, videos, livestreams, and other promotional materials; and
  • Modify the map as reasonably necessary for use within Ground of Aces.

8.3.

If a map is selected for inclusion as an official map, the development team may make additional changes or adjustments to the submitted map before or after its inclusion in the game.

8.4.

By submitting a map, the participant confirms that they have the necessary rights to the submitted content and that its use by the Organizer as described in these Terms & Conditions will not infringe upon the rights of third parties.

9. Disqualification

9.1.

The Organizer reserves the right to disqualify a submission or participant that:

  • Violates these Terms & Conditions;
  • Does not meet the eligibility or submission requirements;
  • Contains inappropriate, offensive, or unlawful content;
  • Infringes or is reasonably suspected of infringing third-party rights;
  • Is falsely presented as the participant’s own work;
  • Attempts to manipulate the community vote or contest process; or
  • Engages in fraudulent or abusive conduct related to the contest.

10. Liability

10.1.

To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Organizer is not responsible for:

  • Technical issues affecting submissions or voting;
  • Lost, late, inaccessible, or incomplete submissions;
  • Problems caused by Discord, Steam, PayPal, internet connectivity, or other third-party services; or
  • Losses or damages resulting from participation in the contest or acceptance or use of a prize.

Nothing in these Terms & Conditions excludes or limits liability where such exclusion or limitation is prohibited by applicable law.

11. Changes and Cancellation

11.1.

The Organizer reserves the right to modify, suspend, postpone, or cancel the contest if circumstances make this reasonably necessary, including in the event of technical issues, abuse, or circumstances outside the Organizer’s reasonable control.

11.2.

Any material changes affecting participants will be communicated through the official Ground of Aces channels where reasonably possible.
