How to Use the Twitch Integration for GROUND OF ACES

HOW TO GET ACCESS

We’re rolling out access to the integration gradually while the feature is still new.

If you would like to try the Twitch Integration, fill out our content creator form. After a quick check if your account is legitimate and fitting for our game, we will get back to you:

✅ TWITCH INTEGRATION STATUS ✅

On Saturday, our chatbot was down for a while and not reacting to command messages anymore. We fixed it on Sunday by restarting the integration, and our programmer made a long-term fix for this on Monday. We apologize for the inconvenience.

HOW TO SET IT UP

Step 1 – Log in for the Dashboard

Create an account using your email address (it does not have to be the same email as your Twitch account). This allows you to return to your settings and Game Session Token whenever you like.

Step 2 – Connect your Twitch account

The next step asks you to authorize our @groundofaces Twitch account. We only use this account for the chatbot.

The authorization allows our chatbot to post messages in your live chat, collect viewer names, and manage event votes.

You can remove the authorization at any time through your Twitch settings: https://www.twitch.tv/settings/connections

Step 3 – Connect your game and live chat using the Game Session Token

After authorizing the chatbot, you will see the dashboard. The dashboard contains a step-by-step guide explaining how to connect your game with the Twitch Integration.

Here is a copy of that tutorial text:

  • Copy your Session Token
  • In Ground of Aces: Options → Twitch Integration, paste the token, and connect.
  • Go live on Twitch — the bot connects to your current live chat, so your stream has to be running.
  • Make sure your Twitch chat is not in followers-only mode (type /followersoff), so the bot can post.

OVERVIEW OF THE FEATURES

1. Chat names your crew

Viewers can assign custom names to your crew members and pilots by typing:

@goa !name YourName

New crew members and pilots that appear during your playthrough will automatically receive names submitted by your chat.

Note: A new game starts with only eight crew members, so not every viewer can receive a character immediately. As your airbase grows and you hire more people, additional names will be assigned automatically.

2. Chat votes on in-game events

You can manually start a vote with the “Start vote” button at the top.

By default, the chatbot will also automatically start polls (as part of a “Scenario”) after a while in your chat. This setting can be changed to “No scenario”.

For each vote, the chatbot will post the four options as a chat message.

Viewers simply vote by typing a number into the chat: 1, 2, 3, or 4

Each viewer can vote once per poll.

The command @goa !vote shows the current voting options and remaining time.

3. Scenarios (automatic votes and events)

By default, the integration runs a scripted Scenario that automatically starts polls throughout the stream.

Different scenarios are available. They mainly differ in how many additional air attacks can be triggered, allowing you to choose a more relaxed or more challenging experience.

Alternatively, you can select and load the “No scenario” option and only manually trigger votes yourself using the “Start vote” button in the dashboard.

(Standard air attacks as part of the normal game progression will still happen. You can change the intensity of attacks inside the game with the parameter settings before selecting a game map.)

4. Chatbot does Steam Key Giveaways (if keys are available)

The Twitch Integration also includes a Steam Key Giveaway feature.

You can manually start the giveaway, and the chatbot will handle the rest.

Viewers can enter by typing !enter in chat, the chatbot will randomly select a winner and then post a secure claim link for the winner.

Available giveaway rewards include Steam keys for Ground of Aces, the Ground of Aces Supporter Pack DLC, and other Blindflug Studios games (First Strike, Stellar Commanders, Airheart).

Name Filter

We built in a baseline list for filtering offensive names (slurs, Nazi-related names, sexual terms) so that they are rejected automatically. If a name gets rejected, there is no chat message from the chatbot, so trolls get no attention.

We can also manually blacklist names in our backend if we see certain terms are not covered yet by the filter.
