Get the B-17 and celebrate Ground of Aces at the SIMFEST
The B-17 has landed in Ground of Aces!
With perfect timing for the SimFest and to celebrate the first week of release, we have launched our first minor content update which introduces the RAF Coastal Command B-17 Fortress MK.II
This is a special airplane because it is sponsored by a one of our backers, JJ, who helped us during the Kickstarter campaign by backing the “General – Plane Fan” pledge level.
Did you know the B-17 was also used in the RAF? During the Battle of the Atlantic, the RAF Coastal Command B-17 supported convoys that were travelling across the North Atlantic and fended off U-Boats.
A US-focused campaign is planned for later, so the B-17 may return as an official plane of the US airplane roster. But thanks to JJ, the B-17 we can already add it to our RAF roster. JJ even gave it a personal touch with nose art by the artist Ben Cantwell.
